LONG STREET 1. 1625 (North-West Side) The Red House. - Grey Lodge. - Forecourt walls and railings to The Red House.

Red House:- Late C17 refronted early to mid C18. Two storey, 5 window red brick front behind garden and above road level. Stone plinth, cornice, parapet and chamfered quoins. Flat stone window architraves with key-blocks. Stone doorway, perhaps later, has rusticated round-headed opening, Tuscan pilasters and entalature. 6-panelled door, altered, fanlight. Extending forward from either side are low curving screen walls of brick, continued south at a lower level as far as garden and railings. Red brick and stone dwarf wall with stone coping. Stone piers with capping. C19 railings; uprights with spiked finials; panelled standards. Late C17 and C18 panelling within; fire place surround; staircase.
Grey Lodge is a rubble built extension of 2 storeys, 2 window bays to right hand. Parapet. Peaked slate roof with 1 box dormer. Parapet. Sash windows 3 panes wide with sagging lintels to first floor. A long, 1 storey, probably C19, addition against east garden wall. Stone slate roofs to rear of The Red House and Grey Lodge.
The Red House, Grey Lodge, Forecourt walls and railings to The Red House, The White Cottage, Wall railings and gate to The White Cottage, Eastbury House, including carriage entrance to east and garden wall to west, Elizabeth House, Bracondale, Nos 1 and 2 Cedar Cottages, The Cedars, Garden wall adjoining The Cedars on the west side, Corby House, Mason Gill, Glenville and Long Street Post Office form a group.
