Description

YETMINSTER ST 5910 CHURCH STREET (East side) 11/115 Nos. 1 to 6 (consec.) 11.7.51 Hill House (formerly listed as Hill House) GV II Large house now converted into 6 flats. Probably mid-C18 origin altered in early C19. Rubble stone walls with ashlar dressings, rest roughcast, roof concealed behind parapet with moulded cornice. Ashlar stacks with moulded caps. Irregular L-shaped plan. 3 storeys. Main front has ashlar quoins. Early C19 ashlar porch with moulded cornice and blocking course. Flush panel round-headed door with shell detail in head, in arch with flush keystone. Ground floor has two 2-light stone mullioned windows - flat mullions, with sashes with glazing bars. First floor has 2 similar windows and a similar single-light window in centre. Similar windows on second floor - the centre one altered. In rear section, windows have chamfered mullions and hoodmoulds. Interior altered, but retains some C18 doors and joinery. (RCHM Monument 4 Dorset. Vol. I) Listing NGR: ST5953610738
