9/49 Iles Farm House, including front boundary wall

Farmhouse. Late C16-early C17. Coursed rubble stone walls, slate roof with stone eaves courses and coped gables, brick end stacks. 2 storeys. At right end, a slightly lower C17 extension. C20 part-glazed door in stone surround, with hoodmould. Just right of this, a small blocked circular window - former stair light. Ground floor has two 4-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. First floor has 3 similar 3-light windows - all with hollow- chamfered mullions. Also on first floor, a 2-light ovolo-mullioned window over doorway. In right-hand extension, a part-glazed C20 door. Ground floor has one 3-light ovolo-mullioned window. One metal casement on first floor. Internally, ground floor room in extension has large open fireplace with timber lintel and one timber jamb. One deep chamfered ceiling beam. In the original house, right ground floor room has large open fireplace, part built up, with timber lintel and stone jambs. Moulded ceiling beams - possibly re-used from former compartmented ceiling. Entrance hall has heavy plank and muntin partition at rear, with open balustrade in upper part-turned balusters. Door with cambered head. Plank and muntin partition between hall and left room. Left room has deep chamfered ceiling beam, and large open fireplace with moulded timber lintel and stone jambs. Square newels with shaped tops at head of stair. Plank and muntin partition on first floor. Low front boundary wall of rubble stone. RCHM Monument 5 (Dorset.
