Description

YETMINSTER ST 5910 MILL LANE 11/159 Mill Farm House GV II Former watermill, mill house, and cottage - now one house. Mill and mill house C17 (RCHM), cottage mid-C19. Rubble stone walls, with brick dressings to cottage. Tiled roofs with stone eaves courses to mill and mill house. Mill house 3 storeys, mill and cottage 2 storeys. L-shaped plan. Mill house, in centre, has date stone 1793 (probably an alteration date). South range - adjoining mill, has one casement with glazing bars on ground and first floors. North range - adjoining cottage, has 2 casements with glazing bars on each floor - that on ground floor replacing a door. Internally, main ground floor room has large open fireplace with curved timber lintel and bread oven. Mill has panelled door. Ground floor - below ground level, has 2 shuttered openings and 2 casements with glazing bars. At right end, blocked opening to-former wheel pit has cambered timber lintel with relieving arch over. First floor has 3 casements with glazing bars. C20 stone stack at right end. Small casement at mezzanine level at left end. C20 cart port extension on right. Internally, no machinery, but part of framing and shute survives. C19 cottage in north wing has panelled door with hood. Ground floor has one sash with glazing bars.
