Listed Building: APLIN AND BARRETT TECHNICAL SERVICES (394523)

BEAMINSTER NORTH STREET ST 4701/4801 7/103 (NORTH SIDE) 12-6-53 Nos 11 and 15 (Aplin and Barrett Technical Services) GV II Attached House and wing, now laboratory and offices. Early C18, with internal modernization. Brick walls (Flemish bond) with stone dressings. Stone plinth with a brick dentil-cornice. Slate roof with stone gable-copings. Renewed brick stacks at left and right hand gables. 2 storeys. 3 windows, 3-lighters with moulded stone architraves and flat-section stone mullions. These frames hold sashes with glazing-bars and crown glass. Central upper window, has moulded architrave with segmental head and stone shaped side- pieces carved with open flowers. Doorway at centre: moulded architrave with scrolled flush feet, pulvinated frieze and carved bracketed pediment. Interior: stop-chamfered beams, C18 panelling on staircase wall. Attached range at left hand: lias rubble walls. Slate roof, 1 brick stack. 2 storeys. 2 windows, renewed 3- and 5- light casements with glazing-bars. Source: R.C.H.M. Dorset I, p 25 (37).
