Public house. Early to mid C19. Painted Flemish brickwork front, rubble with brick dressings returns and back, slate roof. The building, with a very wide span gabled roof is set on the corner to Westhill Road, with a slightly splayed side following the street-line. 3 storeys, 3 windows, all sashes; 12-pane (4 panes wide) to the top floor and 16-pane below. Central pair of narrow panelled doors in a flat elliptical arch with fanlight, on 2 stone steps. A small plinth dies to pavement level to the right. Brick stack to each gable, and the brick flues in the right gable showing externally, flush with the rubble. The rear has 12- and 16-pane sashes under brick voussoirs which are contained by haunched brick heads. INTERIOR: not inspected. The building holds an important position visually in the village.
