Remains of town pump. Erected 1775 at West Plains (North Quay), re-erected in present position in 1990 under the aegis of Weymouth Civic Society. Portland stone. An obelisk approx 3m high, approx 0.9m square at the base, in a series of banded courses, on a chamfered base, and to a ball terminal on pyramid capping. Opening for former handle to the W, and further opening at ground level, facing N; a few remnants of the ironwork fixings for the pump. The obelisk carries a Civic Society plaque recording the move and re-instatement here, as part of extensive environmental improvements in the area.
