8/7 Chettle Lodge
GV II
House, possibly incorporating a C16 core but mainly late C18 with mid C19
additions. Part ashlar and part rendered with slate roof. Rendered octagonal
stacks in various locations. Main range, 3 storeys with attics, 3 bay with
C19 extension left. Originally symmetrical. 12-pane sashes with 6-pane sashes
to upper floor. Central porch with arch of 2 chamfered orders. C19 extension
has 2 storey canted bays in a Tudor style.
Internal features (RCHM): C18 staircase with details similar to that of
Chettle House (qv) with C16 wooden figures reset as finials; Reset C16 and
C17 panelling including overmantel with strapwork decoration and caryatid
