Description

ST 73 SE SILTON FANTLEY LANE 1/111 Lower Silton II House, probably late C18. Rubble walls with tiled roof with stone slate verges, end brick stacks. 2 storeys, 3 window range. 3-light casement windows with glazing bars, the uppermost lights having pointed heads. The ground floor has 2 canted bays. Central glazed door. Internal features (RCHM): west room has cornice with cable and egg and dart mouldings; east room has C18 chimney piece with carton- pierre enrichment. The house is reputed to contain murals painted by William Blake, painted over by a later occupant. (RCHM, Dorset, vol IV, P79, No 5. Moore, Doris, Footsteps from the Past, 1968, privately printed).
