9/70 Burlton Cottage
II
Pair of cottages, now a single house, north-eastern cottage C17, south-western cottage C18 with later extension of 1955. Earlier cottage is of irregularly bonded brickwork with ashlar landing, later cottage in rubble, brick and flint. Thatched roof. Brick stacks to ends of cottages, that to the left having a large, stepped external chimneybreast. Older cottage is of a single storey with attic, the later cottage is of 2 storeys. 4 irregular window range, Ground floor openings have segmental brick heads, 2 and 3 light casements with horizontal glazing bars. C20 part-glazed doors. Internally the older cottage has remnants of the original roof structure which may have been of cruck construction. (RCHM, Dorset, vol.III, p.241, no.10.)
