2. Public house. c1905. Green glazed brick or tile, pale cream faience; roof not visible from street. Art Nouveau crossed with Edwardian Baroque. Three storeys, 4- windowed, the outer bays brought slightly forward above the main fascia, and crowned with semi-circular pediment, the centre two bays with Sinuous segmental pediment; windows generally plate glass sash, but at first floor the centre pair arched, 3- light plus transome. Quoins and window surrounds picked out in faience, modillion cornice and decorative panels to pediments, swags and panels over first floor windows, and cill bands all faienced. At ground floor the original joinery work including pair of part glazed door, left, single the same under bay 2 and corner entry with segmental plate glass bows flanking glazed door; above transome across its front are glazing bars to square panes or to segmental arches. A cellar door, left; to the right a through-way. Fascia full width, mid C20 lettering, on Ionic square pilasters. Original faience lettering 'Branksome Arms' to central pediment. Interior not inspected, but main bar appears to have been re-styled in plastic veneer period. A wilful facade, very characteristic of the period.
