Description

WEST BOROUGH 1. 5193 (east side) No 10 (Wimborne Conservative Club) (formerly listed as No 72) SU 0000 SE 2/120 14.6.52 GV II* 2. Late C18-early C19. Brick walls. Slate roof concealed behind parapet. Three storeys and attic. Moulded platband at first floor level. Central section of facade has a pediment, rising above main parapet. Central entrance with double raised panel doors in classical surround. Fanlight with ornamental glazing, broken pediment and entablature on Tuscan pilasters. Ground floor has 4 round headed double hung sashes with glazing bars, set in arched recesses with gauged brick arches and stone imposts. First and second floors each have 5 double hung sash windows with glazing bars: Attic (in pediment) has a round headed window with glazing bars. An important facade. Interior retains some good panelled doors with reeded architraves, and ornamental plaster cornices. Staircase has wrought iron balustrade of "Gothic" design. RCHM Monument 63.
