COLEHILL SZ 09 NW LEIGH ROAD 11/8 By-the-Way (formerly 18.3.55 listed under Hampreston) - II House. Mainly early C19. Stucco walls to the front block, other walls of brickwork in Flemish Garden Wall bond. Low pitched hipped roof of pantiles to the front, older lower rear roofing of tiles, with hips and half-hips. A two storeyed building of older origin, renovated and forming two rear wings to a taller three storeyed front; symmetrical south elevation of three storeys three windows, sashes in reveals, with a tall round headed central 1st floor light, the rear part of the main block has 2nd floor sashes, all other windows being casements. Doric porch of 2 columns and 2 pilasters, on a stone step, with an oval decorative fan light above coupled doors. Staircase within. Note: the building was formerly Leigh House, listed in Hampreston parish. RCHM.
