Farmhouse. Early C17. Rubble stone walls, partly plastered; stone slate roof, brick stacks on ridge. One storey and attic. Long narrow plan with 3 adjoin- ing gabled projecting wings to rear, forming, in effect, a double-pile plan:- these wings may be slightly later. Main (east) front has, near right end, a single-storey projecting wing, a former dairy. Ground floor has three 4-centred arched doorways, (one appears recent), 2 stone-mullioned windows with remains of lead liqhts, and 3 C20 metal windows. Small casement window under eaves. Attic has 4 hipped dormers, - 2 with stone mullioned windows with remains of lead lights, 2 with C20 metal casements. At left end an attached outbuilding, continuous with the house. This has a lean-to projecting at its left end. 2 ledged doors on ground floor, and a loft door approached by a flight of stone steps. Internally, ground floor room at right end has large open fireplace with 4-centred stone arch and bread oven. Large central stack has fireplaces part built up. Several deeply chamfered ceiling beams. Roof possibly originally of cruck form. Small lancet window in stair wing. RCHM Monument 17 (Dorset Vol II).
