13/42 The Drax Arms , including the attached stable at rear

Public House. C18 origin, altered in mid-C19. Roughcast walls with smooth plastered quoins. Tiled roof; half-hipped at west end. Roughcast stacks - one at east gable, one rising from front eaves. 2 storeys and attic. Ground floor has one part-glazed door under gabled hood on brackets. One similar door under flat hood, continuous over adjoining canted bay window. One similar bay window - both with double-hung sashes. One 3-light double-hung sash window. First floor has 3 double-hung sash windows. Attic has one hipped dormer with casements. Projecting rear wing at west end, of brick, part plastered, and tiled roof. At east end, a C19 single-storey projecting rear wing, of brick and tile, links the main block to a C19 former stable - brick with slate roof, of one storey and attic. Plain ledged door with loft door over, under gabled dormer. Included for group value.
