Description

SY 89SW 2/258 TURNERSPUDDLE TURNERSPUDDLE 20.11.59 Tonerspuddle Farm House. (Formerly listed as Turners Puddle Farm House) II Farm house. The earliest part - the west range, dated C16 by RCHM - possibly formed part of a larger building. The south end of this range extended eastwards in C17 - forming a symmetrical south front. The angle between these two ranges infilled in C19 and rebuilt c1959. Two storeys and attics. Walls of original and C17 ranges partly of brick, partly rendered, on stone bases. Slate roof with stone eaves courses. Brick stacks. Modern north-east block has brick walls on stone base, and flat roof with parapet. Main south elevation has rendered walls. Modern central porch of concrete blocks with tiled roof, and modern glazed door. Ground floor has two 2-light stone mullioned windows with lead lights. First floor has three casement windows with glazing bars. Slight break in wall west of porch indicates change of build. West elevation has walls partly of brick, partly rendered. Door opening with elliptical ironstone arch - appears C17 but may be re-set. Ground floor has two casement windows with glazing bars. First floor has three casement windows - one with lead lights, one with cast iron lights, one with timber glazing. Interior of original wing much altered. Ground floor room at north end has two deep-chamfered ceiling beams. Room at south end, first floor, has a stone fireplace with 4-centred arch.
