II
Detached house. C17, extended C18. Cob walls, faced in brick - thatch roof, brick stacks. One storey and attics. Single-storey lean-to at rear - thatch roof continued over this. Original house of end-hall plan with central cross-passage - hall to north and kitchen to south of this. Later extension south of kitchen, probably originally a dairy etc. Modern brick and timber porch with oak door. Ground floor has four casement windows with glazing bars. Attic has four half dormers with casements with glazing bars. Additional ledged door to former dairy. Internally, the hall has a large open fireplace with timber lintel and jambs backing on to the cross-passage. Chamfered oak ceiling beam and exposed joists. Stairs now in rear part of cross-passage. Original kitchen has stack in end wall, large open fireplace with timber lintel and jambs. Chamfered oak ceiling beam and exposed joists. Late dairy has chamfered ceiling beams. Room over hall has fireplace with timber lintel and jambs. Of particular interest because of its plan, transitional between the end-hall and the later symmetrical two-room plan (RCHM Type T).
