2. C17, refronted in early C18. Hammer dressed stone. Part timber framed. Pitched modern roof. 2 storeys and attics. Dentilled eaves cornice. 5 ranges of sashes with glazing bars, ashlar lintels and projecting key blocks. Central entry with 6-panel door, moulded architrave and lead covered hood with bowed front. 2 shop windows. Rear of No 39 has timber framed upper storey and 1 3-light casement with lead glazing bars.
Nos 37 to 47 (odd), the Unitarian Chapel, the Public Library, and Nos 53 to 57 (odd) form a group.
