Description
1. BROAD STREET 1357 (North-East Side) No 50, including rear range. No 51.
SY 3492 1/101 II GV 2.
C19 2-storey roughcast front to C17 or earlier timber-framed building. Parapet. No 50: On 1st floor, splayed 3-light bay window without glazing bars. On ground floor, C19 shop front; 2 shop windows and a shop door; groove for shutters behind fascia. Doorway converted into window at right hand end. Door before passage at left hand end. Plank and muntin panelling with 2 centred-headed opening in passageway. Range to rear of blue lias rubble; various door and window openings; formerly housed a smithy; J McN Whistler, the artist, used part of the range as a studio when he stayed in Lyme. No 51: has one 3-light 2 tier modern window above and altered shop window below.
Nos 45 to 65 (consec) form a group.
