In October 1985 a service trench exposed exposed part of a stone culvert running north-east/south-west below the pavement on the north side of the street, close to the churchyard boundary. Observations were made by Alan Hunt, who felt that it was possible that a branch of the culvert extended north towards the Old Manor. No dating evidence was found.
