EDO1428 - Weymouth Avenue, Dorchester; observations and recording 1991

An archaeological watching brief was carried out by Bournemouth University during telecoms cable trenching and the construction of a joint box in March 1991. The cable trench was only 0.5m deep and exposed no archaeological features. The joint box construction entailed the excavation of a larger hole 2.5m by 1.7m by 1.5m deep. The trench was heavily disturbed by previous services and indicated that there were no deposits pre-dating the post-medieval period. No prehistoric, Roman or medieval features or finds were recorded. A series of earlier footpath surfaces were found.
