Description
Wessex Archaeology conducted an archaeological assessment of c. 2 hectares of land at Chantry Farm, Gillingham, Dorset (ST 805263), in advance of proposed residential development. This work revealed archaeological features of medieval (12th to 14th century) date. The assessment comprised machine-excavated trenches in which ditches, postholes and other, unexamined, features were recorded. The site was immediately adjacent to known archaeological deposits of early and late medieval date, revealed during previous assessment and excavation programmes. [1]
