Description

Wessex Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation on the site of the Joseph Weld House hospice in September 1991. The evaluation comprised both fieldwalking and trial trenching. A 1.5x1.5 m trial pit was excavated at the centre of each of five 10m x 10m fieldwalking squares. No archaeological features were found in the testpits, but there is some evidence for a positive lynchet of post-medieval date running across the site.
