Description
During the construction of a private garage to South Grove Cottage, at the corner of Trinity Street and Bowling Alley Walk, during 1955, a drain made of what looked like Broadmayne brick was seen running alongside and actually touching the north side of the wall of the walk.
Mr. Frank Abson of Lee Motors reckoned it to have been about 3 ft wide, and as deep, but the bottom was not probed and it is uncertain whether it was circular rather than arched. It was not present on the same alignment a few yards further west, where the Roman rampart was sectioned during the extension of Lee Motors.
