Description

A mosaic pavement was found in December 1899 during the lowering of the ground for the Devon and Cornwall Bank, 50 South Street, Dorchester[1] although Moule says the discovery was made in 1900 [2]. Said to have had an octagonal centre panel with a circular centre and a guilloche border. A fragment of the border is in the DCM. A length of 'subway' was also found several feet below the floor [1]
