Description
This bowl barrow was excavated by Cunnington in 1864.
It measures 75ft diameter and 14ft high. Cunnington found a primary contracted inhumation with a food vessel at the feet and six barbed and tanged arrowheads at the knees. It lay by a cremation and below a 3 ton block of Portland stone at a depth of 9 feet. Of three secondary cremations, two lay close together 5 ft from the surface and one was in a bucket urn 18 ins from the surface [1].
