Description

D. Markell conducted a trial excavation on behalf of the South Wessex Archaeological Association at the Staggs Site, Christchurch during 1973 (site X8). This trench revealed a compacted sandy clay layer on the line of the modern Millhams Street. A full excavation followed in 1976 (site X12).
