Description
Peter Stanier conducted a first survey of Dorset limekilns during 1992-3.
'The primary aim... was to indentify and record Dorset's limekilns, as a result of which over 300 sites are now known. The main period of lime burining was from the mid-18th century to the early 20th century, and was mostly concerned with agriculture.
