Description

Exeter Archaeology carried out a watching brief during redevelopment of a site to the rear of 42 South Street, Bridport in April 1999. This was preceded by an evaluation in February 1999. (1) Eleven pits and a small gully were recorded, together with a WWII Anderson Shelter. These pits were largely found in an E-W line along the central part of the site (along the line of an earlier property division) and along the southern and eastern sides. The pits ranged in date between the medieval and 18th century. (1)
