Description

In 1913, during road widening, some cottages on the south side of Buddle Bridge were demolished. During this work, the remains of a possible priest's chamber in the south abutment of the western arch of the bridge were identified and recorded by Wyatt Wingrave. This had an arched recess (perhaps an aumbry) in the south wall and a carved oak framework in the north wall.
