Description

A closed pit was discovered at the side of a thatched cottage on Langton Road whilst it was being demolished in May 1949. 4 17th century pipes and 1 stem were recovered from 2 feet below the ground surface within the pit. The name or location of the cottage demolished in 1949 is not recorded but it is possibly cottages at Londonderry, extant in 1929 but gone by the 1980s. The event has been mapped at this point, although the true location remains unknown at this time.
