Description

Bournemouth University excavated a trench along the street frontage of a development site, formerly lock-ups and garages, after demolition of these buildings and machine excavation of foundations and service trenches. The ground was found to have been much disturbed, presumably during construction of the garages. Two sections of structural timber, thought to be from an earlier building on the site, were found in mixed and very heavily disturbed layers. The excavator concluded that the site had been substantially levelled before the garages were built in the twentieth century.
