EDO5516 - Beeches Buildings, Goulds Farm, Milborne St Andrew; evaluation 2002

Excavation on the site of a development comprising the demolition of or moving of existing buildings, and the erection of new agricultural buildings. Seven trenches comprising 2% of the area were excavated by machine. Four were situated south east of Snag Lane; three of these were 30m by 1.9m and one 15, by 1.9m. Three more trenches were dug to the north west, two 30m by 1.9m and one 28.6m by 1.9m. Trenches were excavated mechanically using a toothless grading bucket. A single piece of unidentified pottery was found in trench 6 and 15 pieces of worked flint was recovered from the trenches. The pottery was thought unlikely to be prehistoric. The flint assemblage comprises mainly thick flakes of Bronze Age character. The only tool found was a scraper from context 700.
