Description

An archaeological evaluation was carried out in November 1995 to assess the archaeological implications of a proposal to extend the churchyard to the north. Excavation of three trenches revealed the remains of a medieval field system. The excavators concluded that these fields probably lay behind medieval building plots fronting onto the present street. Quantities of residual Romano-British pottery were recovered. Site code: W9137. Evaluation ahead of an extension of the churchyard; three trenches revealed the remains of a medieval field system as well as a quantity of Romano-British pottery. NMR Microfilm Index PRN: 7526.
