EDO5589 - Land adjacent to Forge Cottage, Dewlish; evaluation 1998

Southern Archaeological Services Ltd was commissioned to carry out an archaeological evaluation after documentary assessment. This was in preparation of a proposed residential dwelling development on the site. Three trenches were excavated using a mechanical excavator with a toothless bucket. These trenches were each 14m long and 1.7m wide. The only feature earlier than Post-medieval date was a small pit which contained 13th and 14th century, and late 15th/early 16th century pottery in its fill.
