A watching brief was undertaken on groundworks for an extension and other ancillary works at Hillfort House, Poundbury Road, Dorchester. The site was adjacent to the boundary of the Scheduled Ancient Monument of Poundbury Camp. A service trench measuring 35m long by 0.8m wide by 0.8m deep was excavated along the south east and south west sides of the building. The subsoil layers were examined and fragments of 20th century ceramic building material found. No archaeological features, deposits or finds were found over the course of the monitoring.
