Description

Construction of the Ansty to Stoke Wake water main (1.74km) by Wessex Water was observed by Wessex Archaeology during March 1991. A low level of archaeological deposits was recorded. Two dense scatters of pottery (dated 12th/13th century and 15th century) were revealed after topsoil stripping. No subsoil features associated with the pottery scatters were observed, but the scatters were nevertheless felt to be indicative of former areas of occupation/settlement.
