Description
Cotswold Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of the route of the proposed Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme between July and December 2012. A total of 47 trenches were excavated in Dorset.
Trench 27 was located to the west of Pimperne and south of the new Pimperne Pumping Station. It measured 30m by 1.8m. It was excavated across a linear negative anomaly (Anomaly 211), which was identified as a lynchet and across two positive anomalies (207 and part of 212), which were not identified in the ground. A pit (27002) of probable late prehistoric date was found, possibly cut by the lynchet (27006) [1] [2]
