Description

Cotswold Archaeology undertook an archaeological evaluation of the route of the proposed Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Water Transfer Scheme between July and December 2012. A total of 47 trenches were excavated in Dorset. Trench 32 was located on Compton Down. It measured 30m by 1.8m. It was excavated across a series of discrete positive geophysical anomalies (172). Two undated parallel ditches (32003, 32005) ran roughly north-south along this trench. Ditch 32005 was cut by a small undated pit (32007). These did not correspond to any geophysical anomalies. [1] [2] The record for this event has been created with support from Wessex Water.
