Description

Observations and recording during repair works. An undated layer of levelling material containing scattered fragments of bone and coffin handle was observed beneath the lifted floor. The top of a brick crypt was seen in the north aisle and a lead coffin with brick surround in the south aisle. The coffin appeared to have been moved when re-flooring took place in the 19th century. Outside the church a modern pipe and soakaway were uncovered, and a grave cut to the west. All fragments of bone recovered were reburied on site.
