Description

Observations and recording during groundworks for a new French drain and associated works. Eighteen burials were exposed around the north and west sides of the church. They were aligned east-west and appeared to be organised in north-south rows. None could be dated, but pottery from the graveyard soils was 13th to 16th century in date. A small area of flint footing of the east end of the nave was exposed. A fragment of 13th-century Purbeck Marble coffin lin re-used as paving outside the West Tower.
