Detailed gradiometer survey of three areas running parallel, on the north and east side of the river Stour, and to the south west of the town. This comprised an area of 8.4ha of which 5.5ha was surveyed, the rest being unsurveyable due to building works, field boundaries and access difficulties. A number of anomalies of possible archaeological interest were identified, as well as a modern service trench and some superficial geology, and a strong magnetic background in the eastern land parcels. The anomalies of probable archaeological origin were interpreted as small ditch features or isolated pits.
