Historic building recording and analysis indicated that the western part and south-west wing of 1 Bimport appear to be earlier than the
corner of the building, which is likely to be a later in-fill within a previously open space. The large attic was used for light industry. Any manufacturing activity was short-lived with no evidence to indicate what it may have been. The surviving evidence points towards it being used for storage, and at some point being given separate access from the other attic rooms.
