EDO6325 - Three Barrows, Badbury Rings, Shapwick; geophysical survey

The survey took place prior to the installation of ferrous rabbit proof mesh to prevent further damage. The area was divided into 20m grids aligned north-south/east-west. 9 grids were surveyed using the resistivity meter and 16 using fluxgate gradiometer. The results were reported as improving the interpretation. The effect of animal burrowing was identified by the resistivity survey. The fluxgate gradiometer survey indicated that the Roman road side bank ran under the mound 112016 and the ditch was circular while the barrow was oval shaped and a sequence of events was proposed that explained this. Stone kerbs were identified around barrows 112017 and 112018 and an apparent causeway on 112017.
