Description

Excavation and watching brief was undertaken to the south of Black Lane, Blandford, as part of the Wessex Water Corfe Mullen to Salisbury water transfer scheme archaeological mitigation. The remains of a subrectangular double-ditched enclosure was found. A series of pits and postholes containing Middle/Late Bronze Age material were found within and just outside the entrance of this enclosure. A single inhumation burial was found in the base of a Bronze Age pit.
