Description

Surveys carried out as part of a methodological survey for a dissertation related to a MSc in Computing Archaeology, with the overall aim of exanining the utility of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Electrical Resistance Tomography (ERT) in producing three-dimensional images of the interior of Bronze Age barrows. In addition to topographical survey, ERT survey, GPR survey and earth resistance survey were used. More information was gained about the possible size and construction of the original barrows and their ditches and the location and depth of possible burial pits. The author concluded that the methods employed provided much more information that conventional two-dimensional surveys.
