Desk-based assessment and evaluation of a site proposed for housing. The desk-based assessment comprised a site visit, study of records of known archaeology and examination of data from three boreholes dug to a depth of 10-15m on 2nd February 2011. The borehole data showed that the upper parts of the development area were disturbed, but there was insufficient information for archaeological conclusions to be drawn. The assessment was therefore followed by an evaluation comprising the digging by machine of a 17.5m by 1.5m trench to a depth of 1.9m to 1m. There was no evidence of archaeological remains in the trench. The disturbance to the soil was found probably to be related to the construction of the existing Vindelis Court building.
