Description

The survey was carried out as part of a postgraduate research project looking at the social use of space by the Iron Age population in and around the Hillforts of Dorset. The magnetometry equipment used was a Bartington 601 gradiometer set for traverses 1m apart. The results were dominated by interference from ferrous metal objects including wire fencing, warning signs, path markers and probable shrapnel. Areas of gorse and nettle could not be surveyed. Reprocessed data indicated possible pits or post holes and a ditch.
