EDO6823 - Christchurch Cemetery, Jumpers Common; geophysical survey 2007

Ground Penetrating Radar survey of approximately 625 m2 of an area of land leased by Christchurch Borough Council now proposed for sale for residential development. The land is currently consecrated and must be deconsecrated by the Bishop of Winchester prior to development. The objective of the survey was to determine whether any burials are present in this particular area of the cemetery. The results show that there is unlikely to be any burials present on the site. Responses typical of burials have been identified but are not aligned east-west suggesting that they do not relate burials but rather other features such as buried building debris.
