Description
Interpretation and plotting of archaeology from aerial photographs and Lidar data commissioned by Historic England. The project comprised an archaeological survey of 293 sq kms of east Dorset extending into the nationally important Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The project looked at all readily available aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar data and mapping was completed to AI&M methods and standards. The project greatly enhanced our current knowledge of the archaeological resource of this important area of the country. Over 2500 monuments were mapped, of which over 80% of had not previously been recorded. New sites ranged in date from the Neolithic period to the Second World War.
